What's new: a big batch of updates
Hey everyone. A big batch of updates just shipped, and most of it came straight from your feedback, so thank you. What's new and where to find it: AI tools (menu, top right → AI tools): Startup Radar analyzes your idea, Repo Health reviews any public GitHub repo, and Time Machine replays a repo's journey. AI twin: open any profile and hit "Interview AI twin" to ask about their work. Find your people (menu → Discover): Find collaborators and the new For You page match you with co-founders and complementary builders. Video posts: bigger uploads, thumbnails, a real player with seek and volume, plus cinema mode and fullscreen. Chat: reply to any message, pin your important chats, and the AI helper now sits right at the top of your chat list. Company pages: real reviews and salary reports, opened from any job's company name. Profiles: case studies, project metrics, live-demo buttons and a reputation score based on what you actually build. It's all in the menu, top right. Free, and no ads. Seriously, thank you for the ideas and the bug reports. They shape this directly. Keep them coming, reply here or ping the AI helper in chat.Open update - #2 · 12 Aug 2026
All of this came from member feedback, so keep it coming.
All of this came from member feedback, so keep it coming. Freelance is live. Freelance and contract are their own type on Jobs now, with a filter. One click and you only see project work instead of scrolling past full time roles. Listings carry fixed price versus hourly, duration, scope, tech stack and who the client is. Budget stays mandatory. No budget, no listing. Clients can post project briefs directly too. Projects is live. A new page to browse what people here are shipping, tech stack on every card, filter by the stack you care about. No more digging through the feed to find the good stuff. The site got a lot faster. Images were the problem. The logo alone was shipping at 746 KB on every page, and photos were served at full resolution. Everything is properly sized now, images load with the first paint instead of after, and pages preload as you hover a link. Should feel noticeably quicker, especially on mobile. Post your project with its stack so it shows up in the filters, and tell me what still feels slow or off.Open update - #3 · 23 Aug 2026
Voice rooms and calls are live
DevConnect has voice now. Every community has three voice rooms: General, Pair Programming, and Help & Debugging. When you join a room, you choose how you want to participate: Listen — your mic stays off Voice — you can speak Video — you can speak and turn on your camera Nothing turns on automatically. Your mic and camera always require an explicit click. You can also call people directly from their profile or a chat. Calls are currently limited to people who follow each other, and incoming calls can be disabled in your profile settings. This doesn't affect voice rooms. For now, rooms are limited to 6 people. A few other updates this week: #Tags are now fully clickable and have their own/tagspage * The post editor is wider on desktop * Chat now separates rooms from private messages * You can pin posts to your profile * Community owners can pin posts in their communities * DevConnect can now be installed as an app I'd especially love feedback on three things: 1. Does audio continue working when you turn your camera on? 2. When you hang up, does the call end correctly for both people? 3. On mobile, can you continue using the rest of DevConnect while staying in a call? If you try it, let me know what you find. You can reply here or send me a DM.Open update - #4 · 25 Aug 2026
We’re working on a new Verified Internship Program
Something new is coming to DevConnect. We’re working on a new Verified Internship Program designed to help developers build real experience, complete practical challenges, prove their skills, and earn a verifiable certificate. No shortcuts. No certificates just for signing up. Your progress, projects and achievements will matter. We’re building the system to be as automated and transparent as possible, including digital certificates with QR-based verification. More details coming soon. If you’re a developer looking to build real experience, this is something to look forward to.Open update - #5 · 31 Aug 2026

Verified Frontend Internship going live tomorrow
After working on this for a while, I’m really happy to finally share it. Tomorrow, September 7th, the Verified Frontend Internship will officially go live. The idea behind it is pretty simple: I don’t want this to be another course where you just watch videos and get a certificate at the end. It’s about actually building things, understanding why they work, dealing with real problems, and most importantly, being able to prove what you know. The program covers HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, accessibility, APIs, testing, deployment, documentation and more, with a final project to put everything together. We already have 49 people waiting, and tomorrow it finally starts.Open update
